COACH RYAN

My lacrosse journey began in San Diego County in 2007, where I spent seven years as a player (midfielder), developing a profound love for the game. This passion quickly led me from the field into coaching in 2014, during my first year of college I began coaching the middle school feeder program to my old high school. I coached there for five years until I relocated to Temecula in 2019. I’ve been the Head JV coach at TVHS since moving and I have coached five years in that position. Overall I’ve spent 17 years, over half my life, out on the lacrosse field. I believe in fostering an environment where every player feels valued, challenged, and excited to learn. My goal is to provide a positive and engaging experience for our local players, allowing them to truly enjoy the game, hone their skills, and grow together as a cohesive team, both during the season and in the offseason.

Growing up on Long Island, I was exposed to the game of lacrosse from an early age, watching my older siblings play until I started playing organized lacrosse in 3rd grade back in 2003. I was able to earn the opportunity to play at the division three level at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire for four years. After years being away from the game, coaching has called me back. For the last two years I have been head varsity coach for Chaparral High School, in which my love for the game has been renewed. Coaching is a way to give back to the game that has given me so much. I hope to instill that love and passion for the game in each of my athletes, as the lessons on the field can go much further than just between the lines.

My love of sports began as a youth, being involved in multiple sports. But my passion was ice hockey, which I played for 8 years (1990-1998). During my time in the Marine Corps (1998-2018), I became certified in training both individuals and groups, focusing on strength, agility and endurance. My coaching career includes Soccer, Baseball, and Football teams. I switched over to Lacrosse and fell in love with the sport in 2014. At the high school level, I began coaching boys lacrosse in 2022 as an assistant, and in 2024 was selected as Murrieta Mesa High School Varsity Head Coach. My passion for developing youth through sports is my drive to contribute the growth of lacrosse on the West Coast.

I’ve been playing lacrosse for almost 6 years now as a Faceoff Specialist. Over the years of loving the game, I’ve personally trained with players from the professional lacrosse league and have gained a lot of knowledge and skill in my position. I’ve had the privilege of playing at Chaparral High School and I am now going on my third year of coaching at Temecula Valley High School. As a coach, I believe in building a team that competes with heart and plays for each other. I want our players to feel like they’re part of a family. One that works hard, holds each other accountable, and never backs down from a challenge.

I started playing lacrosse my freshman year of high school in 2020 as a secondary sport. The more I watched and played I knew that this was the sport for me and have been playing lacrosse since then; competitively and for fun. I’ve played every position there is on the field, other than goalie, and I hope to teach every player all aspects of the game, so they can find what their strengths are and build off of them. I was committed to play D2 lacrosse but decided to stay in California and coach instead. I have been the Head JV coach since 2024 and hope to continue to coach and teach new kids the beautiful game of lacrosse. Lacrosse is one of the best sports there is and I plan to continue to spread the game on the West Coast and help players be the best they can be.

I was first introduced to lacrosse in 2014 as a freshman at Murrieta Mesa. It was brand new to Mesa so I decided to give it a try. I was thrown in goal almost immediately and fell in love with the sport. I loved it so much I made it my primary sport year round. I played club lacrosse for Team 12, Rivco, and Empire over the summers and in the fall I would play box lacrosse. I attended UC Riverside for college and was without lacrosse until I was brought back to the sport after graduating. I became the JV Head Coach at Murrieta Mesa, where I have now been coaching since 2022. As a coach, I strive to cultivate a culture of positivity and hard work, so that student athletes learn valuable skills that will help them in life as well as lacrosse.
